How two years had gone so fast

“I’m now cleaning up my bed room; transferring my files from my desktop computer to my USB; piling up books stacked within the past year; compiling my essays printed or handwritten; and planning how am I going to pack my things and have them fit inside the bags. I’m leaving in five days and I’m preparing myself from this transition period.”
March 14 journal entry

BUDA, DAVAO CITY — I planned to post this entry above while I was still in MAPAC. While I am writing this, all my companions in the scholasticate are now in their respective communities in their immersion in Luzon with groups in the Bulakeños and the rest with the Dumagats in Rizal Province. Now I am in Buda for three days already, I have the luxury of time which I had in MAPAC but didn’t spent the time well because of different distractions such as computers with high speed internet. When I flew to Mindanao, I went straight to Cotabato for a detour in Tamontaka novitiate for two days. I just had with me my clothes, money, and some necessities (is smartphone considered?).

How to keep smiling as you wake up in the morning?

For some reason, waking up for me is pleasurable for the past two days. This is strange since I usually don’t wake up during my phone’s alarm. And whenever I wake up, I feel unwell. It’s either I still wanted to extend my sleep or I feel like having a fever. And the reason? If there comes the time when I will find waking up at 5:30am in the morning, that would be a good reason to feel well in the waking up. But so far, waking up during these two days are the reasons for me to smile. Is it because of a cool temperature or an uninterrupted sleep? I think that would be a yes for both. So later this night, as I lay down on my bed, I will let go of anything that burdens me be it anger, heartache, unfinished work, or whatever. As my Brother said, let tomorrow worry about itself. Let go.

Post-review of the much awaited opening of the Marist School Employees’ Athletic League 2015

Yesterday was the opening of the first MSEAL (Marist School Employees’ Athletic League) with our team, MAPAC, combined with some staffs to complete the blue team. Some highlight? I represented our team as our torch bearer. After that, some extra formalities with hilarious yells that we did spontaneously.

Bad news: Last night, my shooting streak was over. Last year, I didn’t miss an attempt in the perimeter. Last game, I shot two attempts and it just clanked the iron. We went into overtime, was just trailing by two in the last two minutes but we never scored during that period due to exhaustion. Final score: 79-89.

Good news: First time that I stole a ball in a fast break attempt while the opponent is on transition. And since we didn’t have any center, I have to grab the rebounds from our more than six feet tall opponents whenever I subbed in. I think I had five or six rebounds.

The best part of the game: On the last 2.9 seconds of the regulation, we had the last possession. Only down by two points, we can win or tie the game. the opponents are holding our players during the inbound since they have three more fouls to give. They can actually foul us until the game ends. So they gave two fouls and left us with 0.5 seconds. That means a catch and shoot situation. But some screen play and presence of mind did trick our opponents. It was so fast that our tallest player was suddenly open near the basket and the inbounder just took the opportunity. That was not in the play! Presence of mind did the trick! He caught and shot the ball. Overtime!

We don’t have enough gas in the extra period. A bittersweet loss. No regrets. We did our best. Maybe some hydration drinks will help us in our next game.
